Here is a review of dog-friendly hotels that I’ve stayed at with my well-behaved German Shepard while visiting family or working in Chicago.

Claridge House

1244 N Dearborn Pkwy, Chicago, IL 60610 | (312) 787-4980

This is my favorite hotel in Chicago thus far. The chic, cozy rooms had everything I needed, including a steamer, small fridge, and glassware (except the robe). The concierge texted me to see if I was happy after I checked in. I loved the happy hour at the bar, where I was invited to feast with the bartender on affordable oysters and juniper spirits. Everything about this hotel felt like I was staying at a friend’s charming manor. Pet-friendly Policy: $75 per pet

Palmer Hilton Hotel

17 E Monroe St, Chicago, IL 60603 | (312) 726-7500

The Palmer Hilton Hotel is a very elegant, apparently haunted hotel. I am a breakfast person and their Breakfast Buffet is a reason to book a night… Rise early, book a Yoga class or take a swim, and get to breakfast by 9 AM, when a line begins to form. Breakfast buffet specials change each morning, but you can always expect eggs dishes, yogurts, pastries, cereals, and coffee. This is ideal for a one-night stay with your dog and you can make the most of it! I enjoy being well-fed for the day. Unfortunately, it can be hard to get in contact with the concierge over the phone, you’ll have to make time to talk to someone at the front desk. Pet-friendly Policy: $50/night per pet

Whitehall Hotel

105 E. Delaware Place, Chicago, Illinois 60611 | 312-944-6300

I love this lovely and affordable boutique hotel that is particularly good for long weekday stays. It’s the kind of hotel where you can become friends with the staff. The Delaware and Whitehall Suites are comparable to any room at a luxury hotel. All of the large, cozy rooms include a robe and a couch. Most importantly, the concierge is always happy and accessible and the bar offers two different types of cuisine: Thai and Italian. I try to head to the small gym for a basic work out at least once or twice during a stay. Pet-friendly Policy: $30/night per pet
